Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) – Level 4

The Level 4 Award in Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) is designed to prepare personnel operating internationally for the risks, pressures, and challenges associated with working in higher-risk environments.

The programme combines practical scenario-based training with theoretical instruction to develop situational awareness, personal security awareness, risk management capability, and incident response decision-making.

This qualification is designed for:

  • NGOs and humanitarian personnel

  • Journalists and media teams

  • Corporate travellers and executives

  • Operational and field-based personnel

  • Organisations operating in complex or emerging environments

The course focuses on developing the knowledge, awareness, and practical behaviours required to operate more safely and effectively in challenging environments where security, medical, logistical, or environmental risks may be present.
